Your Housemates as Celebration Chocolates

0 comments 44 views

I know we’ve just had Lent, but I thought I’d get in here early for maximum enjoyment.

Easter is a time for chocolate, fresh starts… and realising that living with other people is basically a selection box of personalities.

Some housemates are comforting classics. Others are let’s say, an acquired taste.

So in honour of the season, we’ve matched the most common housemate types to their chocolate counterparts. See if you recognise anyone, or even yourself.

🍫 Galaxy Caramel -The Generous Sweetheart

The one who doesn’t mind if you use the last drop of milk, because they quietly pick some up on the way home anyway. Easygoing, kind, and somehow always smoothing over tiny household frictions before they become real issues.

Living with them feels reassuring in a way that’s difficult to articulate.

🥜 Snickers – The Long-Timer

They’ve been there the longest and know where everything is, including things no one else even knew existed. They remember past house dramas like folklore and occasionally say things like, “This reminds me of the Great Boiler Incident of 2022.”

Gets annoyed around dinner time – they’re not them when they’re hungry.

🍬 Maltesers – The Invisible Socialite

They never seem to be in, and when they are it’s to have a shower and change clothes before attending another event.

🍫 Mars – The Dependable One

Consistently pays bills on time. Replies to messages. Knows when the bins go out without needing to check.

They may not draw attention to themselves, but their quiet reliability forms the backbone of household functioning. If they ever went away for a week, things would begin to unravel in subtle but noticeable ways.

Steady, dependable, quietly essential.

🍪 Twix – The Organised Pragmatist

Has a system. Possibly several.

They label shelves, suggest practical solutions, and occasionally send messages that begin with “Just so everyone’s aware…” – which are usually helpful, even if greeted with polite silence.

Life runs slightly more smoothly thanks to them.

☁️ Milky Way – The Gentle Presence

Soft-spoken, considerate, and often found making tea.

They’re sensitive to the atmosphere of the house and have a knack for noticing when someone’s had a long day. Living with them brings a certain calm – the sense that not everything needs to be urgent.

Comfort in human form.

🥥 Bounty – The Divisive Character

Not universally understood, but entirely themselves.

They have particular preferences- perhaps about cleanliness, noise levels, or fridge organisation, which may inspire debate. Nonetheless, they are consistent, and there’s something reassuring about knowing exactly where you stand.

Every household has one.

🍫 Galaxy – The Easygoing Peacemaker

Rarely involved in conflict, and often the one who gently changes the subject when tensions rise.

They move through shared spaces with quiet diplomacy, smoothing edges simply by being reasonable. Conversations with them tend to leave everyone feeling slightly better.

Effortless harmony.

🐣 Closing thought

Of course, most people are a mixture — a bit Mars on Monday morning, a touch Maltesers on Friday evening.

The real question is: which one are you reaching for this Easter?

If you have a housemate story- heartwarming, baffling, or quietly ridiculous, you can share it with us anonymously. After all, every household has its own selection box.
